2020 I spent my winter holidays not in Berlevåg as usual, but in the “nearby” neighbor village Båtsfjord (distance: 90 km or 56 miles by car). At my departure on March 2nd Covid-19 seemed still to be not too threatening. But this changed quickly. On March 12th the Austrian government announced global travel warnings. And in Norway all tourists had to go retroacitvely into quarantine from March 13th fourteen days back. I was happy to reach the last possible flight home, before the lock down of the international airport in Oslo on Monday 16th. Nevertheless my holidays in Båtsfjord were wonderful. The weather was changing from sun to storm and snow. But this is part of the overall experience.
